Bloomington, IN
Our neighborhood story
Just south of Indiana University’s limestone-draped campus, as the B-Line trail crosses N Rogers St., a striking portrait emerges. The picturesque architecture of IU’s campus looms faintly in the distance, set against the sawtooth roof-line of the former Showers Furniture Co. mill. Once home to one of the world’s largest furniture manufacturers, the mill now operates as a beautifully restored incubator for the next generation of innovators and entrepreneurs.
This is the Trades District, a neighborhood that balances both the old and new, wide-eyed and future-looking while staying firmly grounded in the history it wears so proudly on its sleeve. From Bloomington icons like The Bluebird and Buskirk-Chumley Theater to newer staples like Upland Brewing Co, creativity and innovation are here to stay.
